Welcome to Heartsong's Aftercare Program
To access Heartsong's Aftercare Program, membership is essential. It's a simple process: complete an application and we will contact you to complete the process. You may also explore our Membership Page for more information. Join our wonderful community today!
Hours:
Join us for aftercare adventures from 1:00 PM - 5:30 PM every Tuesday to Friday. Our program caters to children aged 3-13, with a gentle nudge for families with kids under six to pickup by 4:30 pm.
Hourly Rates:
We offer sliding scale to meet families where they are at. Additional discounts available by signing up for a monthly rate. An example of monthly rates is below. We can make a custom monthly rate that meets the needs of your family.
Low Income/Enrolled Rate: $10/hour for the first child, $6/hour for siblings.
Standard Rate: $12/hour for the first child, $8/hour for siblings.
Supporting Rate: $15/hour for the first child, $10/hour for siblings.
Monthly Rates
Based on a 3 hours/day, four days/week, four weeks per Month. If enrolled in a monthly rate program, we skip the December payment and make those weeks up with thanksgiving and spring breaks. We do not offer other discounts for other missed days as these rates are well below the hourly rate.

Standard:
1 child: $450
2 children: $750
3 children: $1050
4 children: $1350
*the occasional additional hours beyond the agreed upon rate follow the corresponding sliding scale rate.
Gear:
Children thrive outdoors, so ensure they're equipped with good gear. Our greenhouse is available until 3 pm, while the grades classroom welcomes them from 3 pm - 5 pm.
Activities:
From creative arts and crafts to tag games and team-building, our diverse range of outdoor and indoor activities cater to all ages and all seasons. Older children receive homework support, while play remains a cornerstone for our younger attendees.
Snack:
One daily snack is provided for everyone to sit and eat together. Typically snacks feature a grain and/or legume paired with fruit or vegetable. If your child requires more protein we recommend sending them with cheese, nuts and/or dried meat.
Ratio:
Maintaining a 1:7 child-to-adult ratio, we can accommodate up to 14 children in our program, ensuring a personalized and attentive experience.
Rhythm:
1 pm: Transition to aftercare, walk to new location, free play.
2 pm: Quiet time, with options to read, draw, or engage with a single toy quietly.
3 pm: Welcoming new children, a circle with names, group rules, followed by a snack followed by free play.
4 pm: Gathering all the children for a water break and a check in, we return to free play, craft time, creative activities, homework.
5 pm: Tidy and come inside. We put away outside toys and games and come into gather our belongings, warm up and get ready for the transition home. Children may once again read, write or draw.
5:30 pm: tidying up, and heartfelt goodbyes.
Community Involvement:
Participants in Aftercare must be Members Heartsong. As valued members of the Heartsong community, families are warmly invited to immerse themselves in vibrant festivals, engaging events, and heartwarming potlucks. We encourage aftercare parents to actively participate by attending festivals, joining monthly meetings and taking up available parent positions, fostering a strong sense of mutual support, community, and connection. Your involvement is the heart of our thriving Heartsong family.
