Heartsong Living Arts Summer Camp is more than just a camp;
it's a journey of exploration, inspiration, and growth.

With our philosophy, we nurture the whole child, fostering their love for the outdoors, arts, and camaraderie.

Kinder Camps

For Children Ages 3-6/7 yrs

Monday through Thursday from 9 am - 2 pm (extended care available) .

Crafts, storytelling, singing, forest, farm and water play! At the end of each camp, (Thursdays at 2 pm) children will put on a small parade with painted faces, costumes and singing a song from the week. Kinder camps are on-site all week at Heartsong’s Farm Location.

Information below about camps is subject to change until March 31st. If you purchase your camp before that time and changes are made you will be alerted via email.

  • We welcome children into the magical world of our farm and forest! Come explore our gardens and forests, gather wildflowers to make crowns, look for meadow fairies, paint with blackberry ink, travel along the seasonal creek, look for crawdads, paint with mud, hear the tales and songs of the land that the crickets, frogs and forest sprites have to share!

  • One of our most popular weeks! Your little pirate will be swabbing the deck, following pirate maps and digging for buried treasure. Songs, stories, play and art will have them in pirate play land.

  • Come spend the week creating nature-based art & crafts! Children will create living art throughout the farm from flower mandalas, weaving onto the nature loom and painting with stones and mineral pigments. We will explore crafts and handworks such as dyeing with plants, crafting puppets, basket weaving, clay work, and more. All crafts and activities will be simplistic in nature and free-form just as Mother Earth intended.

Adventure Camps

For Children Ages 7-12 yrs

Monday through Thursday from 9 am - 4 pm (extended care available)

This year’s Adventure Camps explore the elements of earth, air, water and fire through ecological observation, primitive skills, camp games, ancient, elemental stories and song. Grounded in the rhythm of the Waldorf classroom while embracing the expansiveness of summer and the outdoors, Adventure Camps begin in circle and game, and transition to exploring historically and scientifically relevant locations on and around Mt. Adams. Campers will travel together via the Heartsong van, but will begin and end their days at the farm.

Adventure camps are ideal for children age 7-12. 13 and 14 year old’s who are comfortable in mixed age groups will also enjoy this camp.

  • This week offers exploration of some of Mt. Adams amazing rock formations and all the life around them!

    Camp will begin on the farm, focused on team-building, forest and hiking safety, observation practice, field journals and forest first-aid, plant allies and of course, seasonal songs and games.

    Tuesday through Thursday, campers will take a van with a lead camp counselor and a chaperone to Mt. Adams for hikes exploring geology, flora and fauna. Our adventures prioritize safety, fun and expanded children’s observational skills.

  • This week of Adventure Camp will explore the watershed that feeds the city of White Salmon.

    Children will learn about the flora and fauna of the area while enjoying old growth forest, trail-side crafts, safe swimming (wading) holes and lots of joyful play.

    Camp will begin with our safety and team-building lessons to ensure children know the essential safety protocol and rules of the forest. Counselors will then guide students through the Lower Buck Creek Trail for exploring and adventure!

    Tuesday and Wednesday will be spent north of Trout Lake on the Upper Buck Creek Trail where we will explore the source of the water!

    Camp will return Thursday to the Lower Buck Creek trail and to the Heartsong farm for reflection and closing our time together.

  • Exploration and observation of the role of fire on Mt. Adams and how we co-exist with it! This week of Adventure Camp will explore the watershed that feeds the city of White Salmon.

    Children will learn about the flora and fauna of the area while enjoying old growth forest, trail-side crafts, safe swimming (wading) holes and lots of joyful play.

    Camp will begin with our safety and team-building lessons to ensure children know the essential safety protocol and rules of the forest. Counselors will then guide students into the van for a trip to the scene of a decade-old fire.

    We will learn about fire as a foundational element of life. Explore the effects of fire and learn about the flora and fauna that survives and thrives after a wildland fire.

    Field trips will be partnered with stories about fires from around the world. Songs and celebration of fire as well as fire safety in a wildland fire zone.

  • Exploring the treasure on the White Salmon!

    Monday - We will look for treasure starting at the farm and make our way through the forest to the White Salmon river

    Tuesday and Wednesday we will go up river to a couple off shoots. We will look for treasure including huckleberries! Camp may stop at Trout Lake on the way home to cool off before returning to the farm. (The water there is cool, slow moving and very safe for children of all ages.

    Campers will follow treasure maps that will guide us to a special swimming area on Trout Creek. We will search for treasure and learn about the flora and fauna of the area.

    On Thursday campers will follow the river down to NW Lake learning about riparian zones and the old stories of the area. Campers will follow a treasure map and end with a scavenger hunt at the park!

90% refund on camps purchased and changed by one month before the first series in the camp. 75% refund  two weeks before the start of your camp. Non refundable 2 weeks before camp.

If your teenager has the proposensity to hang out with younger children and can be a good role model, help with logistics, and generally be supportive, please contact us. We have room for 1 Junior camp counselor per cohort/camp for Adventure camps, and probably 1 for the littles if trained in working with small children AND being able to be coached..

Compensation is a stipend approach while technically a volunteer. Stipend TBD based on capacity after an initial interview with camp leads.

Winter Camp

For children ages 3-12

Mornings will be spent outside, playing games, hunting for supplies (sledding if there is snow) and breathing in the crisp winter air, followed by lunch in the Grades Classroom. Afternoons bring tea, biscuits, and the joy of crafting together. Winter Camp is a beautiful way for children to connect with the season, each other, and the traditions of Yule.

Join us for Heartsong’s Second Annual Winter Camp, a cozy and creative Yule celebration! Each day, children will explore four craft stations: shaping clay, working with wood, bees wax creation and painting. Older children are encouraged to bring along their own projects, while younger campers can enjoy age-appropriate games and toys.
